Established in 1905, Rolex has become is the largest manufacturer of certified Swiss-made chronometers, with their iconic timepieces such as the Rolex Daytona and Rolex Submariner considered the height of luxury and elegance. OMEGA

Omega watches have an illustrious reputation in the Swiss watch industry. They have served on numerous NASA space missions including Apollo 11 where astronaut Buzz Aldrin became the first man on the to wear a watch - the now iconic Omega Speedmaster. Omega is also the official timekeeper for the Olympic games. Omega began way back in 1848. Today, their reputation is firm as one of the very best watchmakers in the world. Some of Omega's most desirable models include the Omega Seamaster, the Omega Planet Ocean, and of course the Omega Speedmaster.

BREITLING

In the 1965 James Bond movie Thunderball, Bond is given a Breitling Top Time, which contains a geiger counter, enabling Bond to track down two stolen nuclear warheads. After the movie was filmed, the watch disappeared and later resurfaced in a car boot sale in England in 2012, where it was purchased for £25. It later sold at Christie's auction house for over £100,000. In the same film, the SPECTRE pilot who hijacks the Vulcan bomber wears a Breitling Navitimer. TAG HEUER

The Monaco 1133 became synonymous with Steve McQueen when he wore it in his 1971 film, Le Mans. His association with this model began when McQueen sought the advice of his friend Jo Siffert to increase the accuracy of his race car driver role. Siffert, in addition to being a racing driver, was also spokesperson for both Heuer and Gulf Oil. At McQueen's request, Siffert lent him his racing suit which was adorned with Gulf Oil's colours and an embroidered "Chronograph HEUER" crest over the right breast. In order to complete the look, McQueen opted for the newly introduced B model Calibre 12 Monaco. PANERAI

Panerai offers watches across four marketing lines: Historic, Contemporary, Manifattura and Special Editions in runs of 500, 1000, 2,000 or 4,000 units; each with its issue number on the case back. The company issues Special Editions by year. For example, in 2006 issued the 1936 California Dial Radiomir special edition, a reissue of the first Panerai model presented to the Italian Marina Militare with production limited to 1936 units. TUDOR

In 2015, Tudor launched the North Flag, named for a key moment in Tudor's history, the British North Greenland Expedition. The North Flag was the first Tudor model to be fitted with an in-house movement, the calibre MT5621. During 2016 and 2017, “Manufacture” movements were introduced across all of Tudor's sport watches and the Black Bay line of diver's watches was broadened. In 2018, Tudor announced the Heritage Black Bay GMT with red/blue "Pepsi" bezel insert. ARE PRE OWNED WATCHES WORTH IT?

It depends. As with a brand new car, most watches will lose a percentage of their initial value the moment you walk out of the shop. This means that purchasing a pre owned watch can offer a substantial saving on new. This isn't always the case though. Most Rolex watches from the professional range, including the Rolex Submariner, Rolex GMT Master II and Rolex Cosmograph Daytona are worth considerably more as a pre owned watch and prices can be double the original retail price.

Generally speaking Rolex tend to hold their value the best. Models from the professional range such as the Submariner and GMT Master II will also increase in value over the years of your ownership. It wasn't long ago that a nice pre owned Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 116520 could be purchased for under £10,000. Those days are long gone and prices of late models are now in the mid 20's!
