The first Rolex Submariner No Date was released in 1954. The Mercedes-style sports hands first found their way onto the Submariner reference 6205. The Rolex Submariner No Date 124060 was released in 2020 and features a 41mm stainless steel case with uni-directional black ceramic bezel, black dial and is fitted with the Rolex Oyster bracelet. The current RRP in the UK is £8,050 (2024 prices).
The history of the Rolex Submariner No Date, officially known as the Submariner 5513 and later the 114060, is a fascinating chronicle of innovation in the realm of dive watches and Rolex's commitment to engineering excellence. The Submariner line was introduced in 1953 with the release of the original Rolex Submariner 6204, specifically designed for divers, marking Rolex’s entry into the world of professional diving watches.
The Submariner No Date version, particularly the 5513, emerged in the 1960s and quickly gained popularity among divers and watch enthusiasts. Known for its simplicity, this model retained a classic aesthetic devoid of a date complication, allowing for a cleaner dial design. The 5513 model was produced from 1962 until 1989 and became one of the longest-running references in the Submariner family, celebrated for its robust construction, water resistance, and timeless design.
In 2012, Rolex introduced the Submariner No Date 114060 as part of the new generation of Submariner watches. This model featured a 40mm Oyster case made of stainless steel, a unidirectional rotating bezel, and the iconic black dial with luminous markings for enhanced visibility. Powered by the advanced Caliber 3130 movement, the 114060 offered improved precision and reliability compared to its predecessors.
The Rolex Submariner No Date has become a quintessential timepiece for collectors and adventurers alike, representing the perfect combination of style and functionality. Its rich history reflects Rolex's enduring dedication to quality craftsmanship, innovation, and a commitment to meeting the needs of professional divers. The Submariner No Date remains a highly regarded model within the Rolex lineup, celebrated for its classic design and unparalleled performance in aquatic environments.
