The Rolex Cosmograph ref 6239 was released by Rolex in 1963 and was original called the Le Mans. It wasn't until 1965 when the watch became the Rolex Daytona.
The Rolex Submariner 6205 was the first to feature a dial layout with inverted triangle at 12, baton markers at the 3, 6 and 9; and dot marker for the remaining hours.
The Rolex GMT Master was released by Rolex in 1954. It featured a luminous bakelite bezel insert and powered by the calibre 1036 automatic movement.
The Rolex GMT Master II was released by Rolex in 1983 with the reference 16760 "Fat Lady". The GMT Master II was undated in 2007 to include a ceramic bezel.
The original 36mm Rolex Datejust was release in 1945 to celebrate the companies 40th anniversary. The Datejust is currently available in 31, 36 and 41mm sizes.
Rolex released the Explorer 6289 in responce to Sir Edmond Hillary and Tenzing Norgay climbing Mount Everest in 1953 whist wearing a modified Oyster Perpetual.
In 1971, Rolex released the Explorer II 1655. A watch designed explorers, or 'potholers'. This watch featured the iconic fixed 24 hour bezel and over-sized orange GMT hand.
The Rolex Sea Dweller 1665 "Double Red" was released by Rolex in 1967 as a result of a requirement for a dive watch with a greater depth rating than the Submariner.
After Rolex discontinued the Sea-Dweller 16600 in 2008, they released the Rolex Deepsea 116660. The case grew to 44m and the depth rating increased to 3900m.
It wasn't until the 1950's that the Rolex Oyster Perpetual made its first appearance featuring automatic movements, screw down back and screw in crown.
In 2016, Rolex introduced a new Rolex Air-King 116900 also known as the "Bloodhound". The dial of the Air-King 116900 is the most distinctive feature of the watch.
The Rolex Sky-Dweller is equipped with calibre 9001, a movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex and offers a power reserve of 72 hours.
Created in 1956, the Rolex Milgauss can withstand magnetic fields of up to 1,000 gauss. Hence its name, “mille”, which is French for one thousand.
The maritime inspired Rolex Yacht-Master is available in 37, 40 & 42mm sizes and materials including Oystersteel, Everose, yellow gold and platunim.
At its launch in 1956, the Rolex Day-Date was the first wristwatch to combine a self-winding and waterproof chronometer with the date and day of the week.
