Sit back and read our 5 minute review of the Rolex GMT Master II 16710. The GMT Master II 16710 was released by Rolex in 1989 and was initially on sale alongside the slightly cheaper Rolex GMT Master 16700. The Rolex GMT Master II 16710 evolved throughout its production until it was finally replaced by the Rolex GMT Master II 116710 in 2007. All versions of the now iconic Rolex GMT Master II 16710 featured a black dial, red GMT hand and were available with either Blue/Red (BLRO) "Pepsi", Red/Black "Coke", or all black (LN) bezel inserts.
The Rolex GMT Master II 16710 was in production from 1989 until 2007 and was available with the iconic red/blue "Pepsi" bezel insert, black/red "Coke" insert or all black version. From launch until 1999, the Rolex GMT Master II 16710 was offered alongside the Rolex GMT Master 16700. The two watches were almost identical however the 16700 was powered by the Rolex calibre 3175 automatic movement and was not available with Red/Black "Coke" bezel. The GMT Master II 16710 was powered by the Rolex calibre 3185 automatic movement with GMT hand and quick set functions. Prior to 1999 the GMT Master II 16710 was fitted with a SWISS T25 dial which featured Tritium hour markers and hands. In 1999 watches were fitted with the "SWISS" only dial and from 2000 onwards all watches with fitted with SWISS MADE dials with SuperLuminova hour markers and hands. The last of the 16710’s were fitted with the calibre 3186 automatic movement.

The Rolex GMT Master II 16710 is powered by the caliber 3185, a certified Chronometer with 31 jewels. The calibre 3135 was first announced by Rolex in 1989 and featured anindependently-adjustable GMT hand. The rotor that powers this movement is bidirectional and when fully wound the movement will have a power reserve of 50 hours. The Rolex caliber 3185 was used in the Rolex Explorer II 16570 between 1989-2006 and the Rolex GMT-Master II 16710 between 1989 and 2005. The last of the Rolex GMT Master II 16710's were powered by the updated calibre 3186 movement.
