Sit back and read our 5 minute review of the Rolex Submariner 116610LN Date. The 116610LN is the most recent stainless steel Submariner to be discontinued, replaced by the 126610LN in 2020. Throughout its 10 year production the watch remained unchanged featuring the divisive 40mm MAXI case and chromalight dial with blue lume.
The Rolex Submariner 116610LN was released in 2010 and featured the new 40mm MAXI case with much larger and more rugged lugs and crown guards. The 116610LN also features another upgrade over the previous generation Submariner 16610 - a black ceramic bezel with platinum inserts. Rolex calls this material "cerachrom" which unlike the aluminium bezel of the 16610 is scratch resistant. The Rolex Submariner 116610LN is powered by the same calibre 3135 automatic movement as the 16610. The dial and hands of the 116610LN were however upgraded to include Rolex's Chronalight material. This luminous material has a blue glow when subjected to sunlight rather than the green glow as per previous versions. The bracelet on the Rolex Submariner 116610LN also saw a huge improvement. The 116610LN is fitted with an oyster bracelet with internal glide-lock clasp and extension system. The Rolex Submariner 116610LN Date retained the engraved inner rehaut with the serial number displayed at the 6 o'clock position.

The Rolex Submariner 116610LN Date is powered by the caliber 3135, a certified Chronometer with 31 jewels. The calibre 3135 was first announced by Rolex in 1988, and over four decades later, the movement is still in production. The rotor that powers this movement is bidirectional and when fully wound the movement will have a power reserve of 48 hours. It displays center seconds, hours, minutes, and date at 3 o’clock. The Rolex Caliber 3135 is a movement that is used in a large number of watches from Rolex. As such, if you see a Rolex watch with a date function, chances are, it is powered by the 3135.
